Mobiwol's Permissions

Because we don't require Root permissions, we have to ask your permission for, well, everything. Here's an overview of what we're doing.

YOUR LOCATION: Approximate location (network-based)

This permission is used to be able to turn on/test features within a local user demographic (simplifies support). Note, this only identifies which network provider you use and does not share any private information.

NETWORK COMMUNICATION: Connect and disconnect from WiFi, full network access

This permission is used to have a better data flow and control over WiFi transport and to fix bugs that were reported on WiFi.

NETWORK COMMUNICATION: View network connections, view WiFi connections

This permission is used to understand when your device is connected to different network types (supports firewall rules implementation) and is used in fixing bugs reported on WiFi.

AFFECTS BATTERY: Allow WiFi Multicast reception

This permission allows the app to receive packets sent on a Wi-Fi network using multicast addresses, not just directly to your device. Uses more battery than non-multicast reception. It is used in fixing bugs reported on WiFi.

STORAGE: Modify or delete the contents of your SD card

This permission allows the app to write to your SD storage which optimizes performance.

YOUR APPLICATIONS INFORMATION: Retrieve running apps

This permission allows the app to retrieve a list of running applications for monitoring/applying rules.

YOUR APPLICATIONS INFORMATION: Run at startup

This permission allows the app to auto-start on phone boot (when enabled).

PHONE CALLS: Read phone status and identity

We aren’t looking at your phone calls, we promise.

This permission's sole purpose is for reading your phone-state, which we use to identify the network traffic barrier.

SYSTEM TOOLS: Mock location sources for testing

This permission is used for testing. It does not share any private information with us, so don't be thrown off by the inclusion of the word 'location'.

SYSTEM TOOLS: Test access to protected storage

This permission is used for testing. It allows the app to test a permission for USB storage that will be available on future devices.

YOUR ACCOUNTS: Find accounts on device

This permission is used to identify user accounts when provisioning technical support.
